Artist's Comments

This piece was made as experimenting different medias together few years ago.

There are many views what this image is about.
To me it mostly symbols lifespan.

But I've heard many different views and I'd like you to tell me what you see in this.

Watercolor, black and white ink, some graphite.
9,5" x 6,5" paper.

Black and white frames quickly made with computer.

I hope you enjoy it!

Agree with the previous commenter; colors definitely look good. You've got some nifty design stuff going on; the white on the red and the sort of half sunburst coming out of the skull/face are my favorite parts. Composition looks good; has a real nice flow to it. Not sure what to suggest on this one; I like it as it is :)

Thanks for this comment!

I've always been a bit intimidated of watercolors since the uncontrolled element (water) and this one here is one of the only couple I've ever done. I think I made this in 2003.
Since that I haven't done any I guess.

Maybe I should try some of it again...

I always like these kind of pieces, the more stylized, more compulsive type piece. These kind of pieces, to me, shed more light on an artist's style, then something forced and controlled. I love the clarity of the colors in some parts, and then in other parts the colors are mucky, and muddy and mixed together. I love the conflict between the cool colors (the blue area) and the warm colds (the red). This piece has a great sense of balance, both in the drawing and the color! Great work!

I'm glad from your comment. :)

I think I'm gonna dig up some watercolor soon in the near-future since it's been a long time since this piece.

This is very nice, the abstract nature makes it very hard to comment on, but I'll try.

The colours are beautiful, but what I really like is how well you blended the colours. When working with water you often end up with things separated or mixed completely together. But you've managed to slowly merge them, it's great.

The only part I don't like is the very bottom, with the black lines going down. I think they're too runny and blobby. You'd be a lot better off doing sharp strokes, so they don't get too much water in them causing them to expand.

Overall though, I love it.

Thank you very much for commenting...
Maybe it would look better with sharp lining in the bottom who knows! :)

Hehe, I really should! that's pretty much the only final one I've ever done. :D

Actually, I promise to you now that I make one tomorrow.
